Dear Families of West Ottawa,
7th graders have been learning how to draw a city from an aerial perspective. They even had to create a superhero that could save their city from destruction. The last portion of this unit, which we will finish this week, is for students to write a letter to the mayor of their city and convince him or her to choose their superhero to protect the city. This project has built upon different elements throughout the last several weeks and the last connection will be to the language arts curriculum. Mid-term progress reports will be coming home soon. If students have any missing work, they are encouraged to turn it in as soon as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] Artfully, Mrs. Morrissey Dear Families of West Ottawa,
On the first day of the semester, students were given a syllabus that outlines the 7th grade art course. 7th graders were to bring it home, discuss it with their parents, and bring it back signed by their parent. Students were given a week to turn in this assignment. I will still accept it but points will be deducted for each day that it is late. In 7th grade art, we started the semester by reviewing pattern. We discussed how our patterns were repetitious as well the fact that each person used a variety of patterns in their artwork. Our next unit is on one-point perspective drawing. Students will learn how to draw a city from an aerial perspective or “bird’s eye view.” This assignment draws on students’ creativity as well as connecting to the language arts curriculum later on in the unit.
