Dear Families of West Ottawa,
In 7th grade art, we are finishing up our unit on color theory. Students started by creating a color wheel and then learned how to use a color scheme effectively to create a painting. We looked at the Aztec sun stone for inspiration for our paintings. We talked about how the Aztecs we sky watchers and the sun stone represents different phases of the sun as well as serving as a calendar. Students created their own sun designs and then used their color scheme of choice to paint it. Our next project in art class with consist of a 1-point aerial perspective drawing of a city. Students will learn about the rules of perspective and how they can help an artist create depth in a drawing.
