Tomorrow, Tuesday Decemeber 16, 7th graders will be taking a printmaking quiz. Students must pass the quiz with a 70% or better in order to begin carving with the tools. Many students were absent today so in effort to keep students caught up, a review sheet is attached below. If possible, please have your child study tonight so they can take the quiz upon their return.
In 7th grade art, students have been learning how to draw realistically through observational drawing. A still-life of various objects was set-up in the middle of the room and each student had a slightly different perspective of the objects. Students learned how to use a viewfinder to help them narrow their focus and transfer what they were seeing onto their paper in the right proportion and placement. After sketching in their objects, students began adding value to make their drawings appear more realistic. Thursday, December 11 will be the last day to work on these drawings in class. If students need to take their drawings home to complete, they are due no later than Monday, December 15. Pictures will be posted on the class website by the end of the week for students to reference at home if they need to finish their shading.
Next week, we will begin a new unit on printmaking. Students will learn how to carve a design out of linoleum and then print it. There will be a safety quiz on Tuesday, December 16. Review for the quiz will take place on Monday, the day before the quiz. Students must pass the quiz with a 70% or better in order to begin carving with the tools. |
