Dear Mac Bay Families,
7th graders started the semester creating a pattern design that incorporated a variety of patterns as well as their names. Students learned how to create contrast in their drawings by shading in certain areas and leaving others white to make their design stand out and create emphasis. After pattern, we moved onto 1-point aerial perspective. Students have been creating a city from a bird’s eye view by learning about the rules of perspective and how they can help an artist create depth in a drawing. As part of this project, students are creating problems in their cities and learning how to draw a superhero in correct human proportion to save their cities from disaster. Students will also be writing a letter to the mayor of their city to try and convince the mayor to choose their superhero to protect the city. Throughout this unit on aerial perspective, we have made many connections with common core classes. We tied to the math curriculum when making our windows and learned that they all needed to be parallel with one another. We will also connect with the language arts classes when we write our letters and review the components of formal letter writing: introductory paragraphs, transitions, and concluding remarks. Please check Infinite Campus for your child's most current grade. If your child has any missing work, please encourage him or her to get it turned in as soon as possible. Artfully, Mrs. Morrissey Comments are closed.
